Info:

‘Twas a dark and rainy night. A solitary tall figure scurried down the soaked, deserted street. Under the street lantern's surreal limelight the glistening pavement gave out a distorted mirror image of a shovel in the top-hatted stranger's hands. What ghastly deed had taken place under the moonlight..?

Burning the midnight oil, another creature of the night, dark seductress Miss Maya en route to her next show, turned onto a dark cul-de-sac. Not looking ahead of her, she stumbled upon the tall stranger sitting on the wet pavement. As the man in the top hat raised his shining shovel, Miss Maya gasped:

“A new tool, Mr. Catafalque, huh? And you just can't let it out of your hands?”

“Mmmh”, grunted the top-hatted man contentedly, and shredded a flurry of melodic licks from his spade-shaped guitar. “Get on the hearse, everyone else's on already. We have a show to play tonight...”

Come meet the jolliest bunch of undertakers you’ll ever come across. Turku, Finland’s melodic metallers Deathlike Silence draw their image and musical ideas from classic gothic romance. Even the band’s name is a line from the movie “Dracula”. Sporting a gravedigger image and the stage props to go with it (complete with a hearse), it's obvious that Deathlike Silence is not dead serious with its music, but that's not to say they're not to be taken seriously.

Deathlike Silence's debut album “Vigor Mortis” sprung literally from underground to position #35 on the official Finnish album chart. It also received frequent airplay on Finnish radio station 'Radio Rock' with the track “Six Feet Under The Ground”. The airtime assisted in scoring a number of shows and also the Russian release for the album.

After some personnel changes (c'mon, YOU put together a bunch of grave diggers and tell me there aren't going to be casualties!) Deathlike Silence have completed their sophomore effort, a deadly, gripping album of supreme, melodic majesty that renders every day a Halloween! And it's a long-lasting album too - when the band's days have ran their course you can still play the album backwards in their wake and hear the band decomposing!

No bones about it, “Saturday Night Evil” is a lot of fun... eral. Let’s have a pall!
