Founded in 2009, German metallers SCEPTOR have established themselves over the years with changing line-ups. The band has featured notable musicians from bands such as Roxxcalibur, Attacker, and Hammer King.
Their debut single, "Introducing... Sceptor", was released in 2010 through High Roller Records and showcased the original vocalist, Bob Mitchell (formerly of Attacker). Their first full-length album, "Take Command!", followed in 2012 via 7 Hard Records - this time without Mitchell. The album received rave reviews from critics, with singles like "Powerhouse" and "Shadows in the Maze" earning particularly enthusiastic praise.
After numerous performances and lineup changes, the band temporarily disbanded in 2014. However, SCEPTOR's story was far from over. In December 2019, the band was reformed with a completely new lineup, led by founding member Torsten Lang, with Bob Mitchell returning as vocalist.
In 2020, SCEPTOR proudly announced that they had signed a worldwide record deal with the renowned German label Pure Steel Records. Their new album, "Rise to the Light" (2021), was met with widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. The vinyl and CD editions quickly sold out. In January 2023, Bob Mitchell had to leave the band after suffering a stroke. He required a lengthy recovery and ultimately stepped back from the music scene entirely. In March 2024, the band welcomed Florian Reimann, one of the most outstanding voices in the German metal scene (formerly with Destillery). With him, SCEPTOR reached a new musical level, and work on a new album was elevated to even greater heights.
In April, SCEPTOR signed a contract with the esteemed underground label Metalizer Records. After nearly a year of intensive work, their new studio album "Wrath of the Gods", is scheduled for release in October 2025 - a work already generating buzz with its mysterious title.
