Release:

Transubstans Records
2013-04-03

Info:

In the spring of 2013 The Crystal Caravan are planning their third release, With Them You Walk Alone. Right from day one, the band decides to, for the first time, just do it all themselves. With a certain amount of hybris given the band's guitarist and founders, Björn Lohmander and Stefan Bränberg, the responsibility as a sound engineers, producers and the mixing of the album. The level of ambition is higher than ever and the time to finalize the album is set by a good margin. Unlike the jammed and live recorded predecessor, Against the Rising Tide, the idea is to take the arrangements to a new level. During the work of With Them You Walk Alone, the band has gone from being a seven-piece band into a six-piece with a more distinct and a more guitar-based sound. A greater emphasis has also been placed on the work of mixing and soundscapes created by analog synthesizers, tape echoes and Leslie cabinets.

To go the whole hog and do not repeat themselves have been symptomatic of how With Them You Walk Alone has been developed. And even if they decide to do it all yourself, they cannot help, in the true spirit of Umeå, to take the help of the amazing Lina Högstrom (Skator).

Biography:

Four years have passed since The Crystal Caravan was proposed by Dennis Lyxzén (Refused, the International Noise Conspiracy) that he would produce the band's debut album. The band had a few previously released demos and been featured on compilation albums with only one ambition - to play live as much as is humanly possible. The bands idea that music should be written to be performed live, got Groove (bigger Swedish music magazine) reviewer, Roger Bengtsson to put the bands Örebro show at second place on his annual summary of 2008 - with Iron Maidens show at Ullevi the same year as number 3.

2009 The Crystal Caravan released their self-titled album on local label Garageland Records with Dennis Lyxzén as producer. The record, mixed at Tonteknik studios by Pelle Henricsson (Refused, Cult of Luna, In Flames mf), got critically well acclaimed in Swedish magazines Zero (9/10), Sweden Rock Magazine (8/10) and Groove (4/5) to name a few. The band goes on a month long promotional tour and Malmö based label Transubstans Records wants to release a sequel.

A few months after the tour the band gather all necessities to record yet another album, pack everything into the tour bus and drive up north. For two weeks they eat, sleep, live and jam in a former chapel in the hamlet of Renholmen. The aim was to take the live feel and spontaneity to a new level. The entire album was written and recorded live in the chapel. In the winter of 2010 Against the Rising Tide was released (mixed by Henrik Oja (Säkert!, Isolation Years, The Perishers etc) and is was followed by yet another long tour through Sweden and Germany.
