CAST THE STONE - Lyric Video Premiere "As The Dead Lie"
American death/black metallers with a Swedish touch, CAST THE STONE, premiere the first single "As The Dead Lie", taken from their recently announced six-track EP "Empyrean Atrophy", which is due for release on Agonia Records on the 31st of August. The track comes with a lyric video designed by Scott Rudd Film (Opeth, Rings Of Saturn).
Listen to the track at this link: https://youtu.be/u2kx8PTf9mc
CAST THE STONE is Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index, Scour with Phil Anselmo), Derek Engemann (ex-Cattle Decapitation, Scour), Jesse Schobel (Legend, ex-Scour) and vocalist Andrew Huskey. First formations of the band began in 2002, long before its protagonists departed for their better known metal-scene mainstays. While such ties leave a clear mark, CAST THE STONE emerge not as some metal supergroup, but as a project of the original and purest intent of its membership.
Each of CAST THE STONE members is involved in writing music, and each has varying tastes. But they all seem to have one acquired taste in common: an appetite for American and Swedish death metal. On "Empyrean Atrophy", one can distinctly hear sounds similar to Dismember, Grave, At The Gates, and other proponents of the genre. There are also artisan elements one could liken to more dark and progressive Swedish acts such as Opeth, Edge Of Sanity and Dissection. Perhaps this reason alone, Dan Swanö was a clear choice for production (having produced or had been a member of some of the aforementioned bands).
"Empyrean Atrophy" was produced by Dan Swanö (Katatonia, Merciless, Edge Of Sanity) and features cover artwork by Gary Ronaldson of Bite Radius Designs (Primordial, Kreator, Napalm Death). It includes five new, original compositions and a cover of Infestdead's "Jesusatan".
1. As the Dead Lie
2. The Burning Horizon
3. Standing in the Shadows
4. A Plague of Light
5. Empyrean Atrophy

VULTURES VENGEANCE - 'Lyrids: Warning From The Reign Of Untold' 7-inch in September
As Italian epic metallers VULTURES VENGEANCE prepare to record their first full-length this summer, the band will further whet their fans’ appetite by releasing the “Lyrids: Warning From The Reign Of Untold” 7-inch in September via Gates Of Hell Records, a sub-label of Cruz Del Sur Music.
Featuring two leftover songs from their 2016 “Where The Time Dwelt In” EP (“Empire Of The Crimson Fields” and “Into The Cave”), the 7-inch will also include the talents of new lead guitarist Tony L.A. Scelzi, who joined VULTURES VENGEANCE last year.
“We have always played both of these songs at our live shows, so fans of the band should have no problem recognizing them,” says guitarist/vocalist Tony T. Steele. “The two songs maintain the same spirit and atmosphere of the ‘Where The Time Dwelt In’ EP, so in some ways, it could be interpreted as a sequel, just with different production. And, we are excited to feature Tony’s lead guitar playing on an actual release. Sadly, this will mark the last release with drummer Kosathral Khel, but it’s a fitting way for us to bid farewell to him.”
Steele says the VULTURES VENGEANCE lineup is “stronger than ever,” which should come in handy as they get to work on a new album and begin integrating a new drummer into the band.
“We are always really glad to play live, but the most important thing is that all the people who make it possible are those who sincerely love what we do and heavy metal in general,” says Steele. “We will always be thankful to these people, for they keep this music alive not because it’s a trend, but because they’re passionate about it. Our main goal for the future and upcoming shows is to keep this unchanged and encourage everyone to read the messages that are within our music. Ultimately, our fans should expect that the stage for VULTURES VENGEANCE will always be like a book where we will write the accurate description of who we are and not of whom we would like to be.”
The “Where The Time Dwelt In” EP was released in October 2016 via Gates Of Hell Records.
DECLINE OF THE I - New album details
French multifaceted, post-black metal band DECLINE OF THE I will release their third studio album titled "Escape" on the 27th of July via Agonia Records.
In anticipation, the band has revealed a new music video for the edit version of the track "Je Pense Donc Je Fuis". The video is available here: https://youtu.be/HGLNjH7y7us
"Escape" will feature six varied, original compositions (including the full, 12-minute version of "Je Pense Donc Je Fuis") replete with artwork from David Fitt, who filmed the new video.
The band commented: "After a heavy and neurasthenic first chapter, and an epileptic, dirty and violent second one, here's the last part of the Decline of the I’s trilogy: Escape. It’s now time to leave, to avoid this perpetual aggression of the outside world. All the other reactions leaded to a dead end. Running away is the only possible move for the subject to preserve its entity. There are many forms of escape: madness, suicide, technology, spirituality. This third album explores all of them. Musically, it’s the synthesis of all the previews works; it's contemplative and slow but also very fast, dark and brutal".
"Escape" was recorded, mixed and mastered at Blacksun Recording by Junior Rodriguez. The album will be available in CD, LP and digital formats.
2. Enslaved by existence
3. Organless body
4. Hurlements en faveur de FKM
5. Negentropy (Fertility sovereign)
6. Je pense donc je fuis

BATTLEROAR - Cover and tracklist for "Codex Epicus" revealed
Greek epic/power metal force BATTLEROAR has revealed the cover art and track listing for their forthcoming studio album, “Codex Epicus”. Due on June 15th via Cruz Del Sur Music, the “Codex Epicus” album art was created by Vagelis Petikas of Revolver Design.
The follow-up to 2014’s “Blood Of Legends” was recorded at Devasoundz Studios in Athens, Greece and features a guest appearance from MANILLA ROAD guitarist/vocalist Mark Shelton on the song “Sword of the Flame”, reprising a role he first took on with “The Wanderer”, which appears on BATTLEROAR’s 2005 album, “The Age of Chaos”.
Comments BATTLEROAR guitarist Kostas Tzortzis: “Mark is one of my biggest musical influences, my mentor and my brother. I am lucky enough to know him personally for more than 16 years and we have shared many experiences in many different places on this planet! So, during the creation of this album, I found myself drained of inspiration, with a nice song on my hands half-finished, but with absolutely no idea how to get it done. Time was running out and I was getting desperate, so I thought of asking Mark for help. Mark has never failed me and this time was no different. He wrote the lyrics, created the vocal lines, sang them and he even added a guitar solo in the end of the song. The rest is history...”
BATTLEROAR will support “Codex Epicus” with extensive live shows across Europe.
Originally formed in 2000, BATTLEROAR’s self-titled debut album was released in 2003. The band followed it up with “Age Of Chaos” in 2005 before joining Cruz Del Sur for the release of 2008’s “To Death And Beyond…”

4. Chronicles of Might

WAR ANTHEM RECORDS new signing: NIXA - Sludge/Doom from Florida
NIXA “EARTH OF NO RETURN”: Dwelling in primordial riffs and anguished melodies, NIXA create melodic, hulking doom - both imposing and intricate. Establishing a powerful dynamic that recalls Yob and Neurosis in its earnesty together with foreboding aural landscapes and heavy-as-mountains riffs, they create a somber pulse for the band’s vocal layers (Vocalist of Sweden’s dark metal band DeathWolf) to viciously and melodically intone ruminations on the nature of man. Since their inception, NIXA has shared the stage with bands like Crowbar, High on Fire, Stephen O’Malley, and Jucifer, culling their firm stance in the sphere of heavy music, and ready to step forward.
A new album is currently being recorded at NIXA’s own studio Skybound in South Florida and is co-engineered/produced together with Kristian Karlsson (Cult of Luna, pg.lost). It is turning into a giant beast with many heads, melodies and dark atmospheric landscapes and the albums lyrical theme, a deep dive into the dualities of human nature and the complex relationship ancient man had with the cosmos, the gods, and their role into the woven fabric of their existence - a world nearly forgotten, roaring back to life through the vision and sounds of NIXA.
NIXA got recently signed to War Anthem Records and is now releasing a 9-minute single “Earth of No Return”, a tremouring journey that explores the heft of the band’s sound and primeval vocal lore. The song was mixed by Kristian Karlsson and mastered by Magnus Lindberg, both of Cult of Luna. The new album is planned to be released Fall of 2018.
Valentin Mellstrom / vocalist (DeathWolf)
Raul Valentine / guitar
Michael Rodriguez / drums
David Miller / bass

BATTLEROAR - New album 'Codex Epicus' in June via Cruz Del Sur Music
Greek epic/power metal force BATTLEROAR is currently putting the finishing touches on their fifth full-length album, "Codex Epicus", which is set for a June 15th release via Cruz Del Sur Music. The follow-up to 2014’s "Blood Of Legends" was recorded at Devasoundz Studios in Athens, Greece and will feature a guest appearance from someone very familiar to fans of epic metal: MANILLA ROAD guitarist/vocalist Mark Shelton. The cover artwork is being created by Vagelis Petikas of Revolver Design.
“The title symbolizes that in order to create something that will stand the test of time, something epic, you need to fight and struggle for it,” says guitarist Kostas Tzortzis. “We drew our inspiration from the ‘Codex’, a book written by worthy men well before our time. We wanted to portray that after gaining knowledge from the ‘Codex’, you could now create music that is epic and fitting of the book.”
"Codex Epicus" will mark the second BATTLEROAR album with vocalist Gerrit Mutz (also of SACRED STEEL). Mutz, who can also be heard on the band’s 2017 split with long-running U.S. metal bastions OMEN, is described by Tzortzis as someone who “sings with great passion and strength.” Asked to describe the sound of “Codex Epicus”, the guitarist says BATTLEROAR fans should expect something even more bold and grandiose compared to “Blood Of Legends”, along with some added wrinkles thrown into the mix.
“Musically speaking, the album has some new elements to present,” says Tzortzis. “But, overall, it’s definitely melodic, powerful, doomy and most certainly epic! We worked really hard on the songs and tried to come up with some new twists and turns while properly representing the history of BATTLEROAR.”
BATTLEROAR will support "Codex Epicus" with extensive live shows across Europe.
Originally formed in 2000, BATTLEROAR’s self-titled debut album was released in 2003. The band followed it up with "Age Of Chaos" in 2005 before joining Cruz Del Sur for the release of 2008’s "To Death And Beyond…".
