Manitou Music / Thundering Records / Twilight
Distress was born at the beginning of 1996. First they tried their skill at Metal classics and then progressively buckled down to their own compositions, developing an original and personal music.
In February 2001, Distress signed a contract with Thundering Records to release 'Close To Heaven' a few months later. Acclaimed by all relevant medias, Distress’s first album is presented as one of the 10th most interesting Doom releases to date!
On September 2004, the band releases its second album 'The Mourning Sign' displaying the darkest side of DISTRESS, cold, tortured and intense. Heavy Doom turns now into gloomy Doom Death, both melancholic & dark
2007: The third album named 'Others' is ready. Doom Death meets acoustic music, Progressive and Dark Metal to offer a strong, balanced, carnal and unique personality in the Metal genre. Distress also strenghthen its vocal trademark with unique plaintive & growling / howling vocals. It’s so easy to compare to bands like Opeth & Distress on this new album, as both delivers high emotional & rage in music. But keep in mind that Distress finely knew at the same time to enrich its songs throughout instinctive, deep and dense albums.
